Welcome to Photosite
Photosite aims to provide a welcoming service for photographers of all experience levels, from beginners to experienced professionals. It is designed to help photographers organise, showcase and share their work through albums, portfolios and the public gallery.
1. About these Terms
These Terms and Conditions explain the rules for using Photosite. By registering for an account or using the service, you agree to follow these Terms.
Photosite is operated as part of the Vexib hosting and software project platform. In these Terms, "Photosite", "we", "us" and "our" refer to the operator of the Photosite service.
2. About Photosite
Photosite allows photographers to upload photographs, organise them into albums and portfolios, and choose which work is made public through their profile, public portfolios and the visitor gallery.
The service may change over time as features are added, improved or removed.
3. Accounts and Registration
To use the full service, you must register for an account and verify your email address. You agree to provide accurate registration information and keep your account details up to date.
You are responsible for keeping your password secure and for activity carried out using your account.
4. Your Photographs and Content
You retain ownership of the photographs, text and other content you upload to Photosite. Uploading photographs to Photosite does not transfer ownership or copyright to Photosite or Vexib.
By uploading content, you give Photosite permission to store, process, display and publish that content as needed to provide the service. For example, this includes showing public portfolio images to visitors and displaying selected featured images in the visitor gallery.
You are responsible for ensuring that you have the necessary rights and permissions to upload and publish any content you add to Photosite.
5. Content Rules
You must not upload, publish or share content that:
- you do not have the right to use or publish;
- infringes copyright, privacy rights or other legal rights;
- is unlawful, abusive, threatening, harassing or defamatory;
- contains malware or attempts to interfere with the service;
- is deliberately misleading or impersonates another person;
- is otherwise unsuitable for a public photography portfolio service.
6. Public Visibility and the Gallery
Some parts of Photosite are public. If you make a portfolio public, visitors may be able to view the images and information associated with that portfolio.
The visitor gallery acts as Photosite's public shop window. It may show featured images from photographers' public portfolios. Featured images are selected through the Photosite portfolio tools and may rotate over time so visitors can discover different photographers and styles of work.
You should only make content public if you are comfortable with visitors viewing it.
7. Administrator Rights
We may remove, hide or restrict access to content or accounts where we reasonably believe these Terms have been broken, where content creates a legal or security risk, or where action is needed to protect the service or other users.
Where practical, we will try to contact the affected user, but urgent action may be taken without prior notice.
8. Service Availability
Photosite is provided on a best-efforts basis. We aim to keep the service available and reliable, but we cannot guarantee that it will always be uninterrupted, error-free or available at a particular time.
The service may be temporarily unavailable for maintenance, upgrades, security work, backups or technical issues.
9. Your Responsibility to Keep Backups
Photosite is designed to help photographers organise and share their work. It is not intended to be used as your only copy of your photographs.
Although we take reasonable steps to protect the service and regularly maintain the system, hardware failures, software faults, security incidents or other unforeseen events can occur.
You are responsible for maintaining your own backups of any photographs, text or other content that you upload to Photosite. We recommend that you keep the original files and at least one additional backup in another location.
Except where required by law, Photosite and Vexib are not responsible for the loss, corruption or unavailability of uploaded content resulting from technical failures, maintenance, security incidents or circumstances beyond our reasonable control.
10. Storage, Quotas and Membership Tiers
Photosite may apply storage limits, upload limits or other usage limits depending on the user's membership tier. These limits may change as the service develops.
If paid or premium services are introduced in future, additional terms covering payments, renewals, cancellations and refunds may be added.
11. Messages and Communications
Photosite may provide messaging features between users and the site administrator. You must use these features respectfully and must not use them for abuse, spam or unlawful activity.
We may also send service emails, such as email verification, password reset messages, account notices or important service announcements.
12. Privacy and Personal Data
Our Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, how it is used, and how users can contact us about privacy matters.
By using Photosite, you acknowledge that personal data will be handled as described in the Privacy Policy.
13. Cookies
Photosite uses essential cookies and similar technologies where needed for login sessions, security and core site operation. A separate Cookie Policy explains this in more detail.
14. Closing Your Account
You may ask for your account to be closed. Where appropriate, we may delete or anonymise personal information and uploaded content, subject to any technical, legal or security requirements.
15. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms as Photosite develops. The version and date at the top of this page show when the Terms were last updated.
If significant changes are made, we may ask users to accept the updated Terms before continuing to use the service.
